Back From Black

Welcome back everyone! Sorry for the delay on getting registrations back up, I was away from home for a week so progress was paused for a while. Anyway, I am pleased to announce that D-Battle is now at Version 0.2! Here are some of the new features that are already live with this update:
  • New Images!
I've finally gotten around to adding images for every single Digimon, and they're all animated, thanks to the kind folks at With The Will. If you notice something wrong with any Digimon, whether it's the image, description, name, or whatever, please shoot me a private message or an email to support @ d-battle.net!
  • Email Verification
After you register, you will be required to validate your account before you can log in. An email will be sent to you with a link to verify your account, or you can resend the email if you didn't get it.
  • Getting Started Tutorial
When you first log in, you will be prompted to complete the Getting Started Tutorial. You can't do anything else until you complete it, but it's just a quick introduction. It goes over some of the things already implemented or in a later planning stage.
  • Gender
As the name implies, you can choose whether your tamer is male or female during the Tutorial.
  • Teams!
During the Tutorial, you get the option of choosing Light Fang or Night Claw. Which team you choose will not affect your overall gameplay experience, but it will alter certain in-game events and characters.
  • Digi-Eggs!
You also get to choose your first Digi-Egg in the Tutorial. What to do with them is explained there, and you can go ahead and hatch the one you chose after you finish the Tutorial by going to your profile, and then the Digi-Egg's page.
  • Crests and Tags!
So far you just get a Tag when you go through the Tutorial, but later on you will be able to collect Crests which will help digivolve Digimon and provide other bonuses!
  • Tamer Ranks and Points!
There are now various Tamer Ranks. You can upgrade your rank by completing quests and collecting Tamer Points, which are given for completing quests and earning medals. You do get 250 Tamer Points for completing the tutorial.
  • Private Messages!
Probably one of the ugliest parts of D-Battle so far (sorry :P), you can now send messages to other users and chat back and forth! Just go to the Mail link at the top or click on another user's profile and hit 'Send message...'.
  • And more!

Whew. There's been some significant changes since registration was closed, so now that it's open go check everything out! Existing users will have to verify their email before logging in, and then run through the tutorial, so you're not left in the dark. :)

The main point of this post is to say that registrations are indeed back online, so if you haven't signed up for D-Battle yet, now's not a bad time! The usual disclaimer applies: As D-Battle is very early in development, expect to lose this account at some time or another as features are added and changed. If it never happens, great! But it probably will. But don't let that stop you, because there's a lot more to do now! And there's even more things to be rolled out before D-Battle hits Version 0.3, so you have a lot to look forward to!

Upcoming additions to Version 0.2 include:
  • Medals! (aka achievements)
  • Exploration!
  • Quests!
  • And more!

That about wraps up this post. And remember, there is no ETA for any upcoming feature, so please don't ask for one! New things will be added as they're worked on, I assure you. :D
